Los Angeles (Jan. 15, 2009) – The Korindo Wind Energy Division has replicated the highly efficient linear manufacturing layout of its Ciwandan, Indonesia plant and, in the process, doubled its annual production capacity.

The 1.5 million-square-foot expansion has nearly doubled the size of the Korindo facility and increased the plant’s annual capacity for utility-scale towers or monopiles from 400 to 800. It also has allowed Korindo to add equipment capabilities that accommodate offshore tower and monopile fabrication.

Korindo’s Wind Energy Division is one of the few ISO 9001:2000 certified wind tower manufacturers in the world. The company manufactures onshore towers, offshore towers and monopiles for customers worldwide.

“This expansion allows the Korindo Wind Energy Division to better meet the capacity needs of global wind energy companies,” said Ricky Seung, president of Los Angeles-based Kousa International, exclusive agent for Korindo Wind. “Coupled with our quality certification and comprehensive logistics solution, we are able to serve them quickly and deliver on time anywhere in the world.”

The Korindo Wind Energy Division constructed its Ciwandan plant in 2006. The addition brings the facility’s total space to more than 3.4 million square feet, which includes 406,295 square feet of fabrication area and space for additional high-tech manufacturing equipment. With its new machines, Korindo Wind can now bend steel plate up to 80 millimeters thick and rotate components that weigh up to 100 tons. Overall, the company now has four blasting rooms and 14 paint rooms that can handle sections up to 7.5 meters in diameter, four MC cutting machines, four bending machines, 22 SAW systems, five SAW tractors and 54 rotators.

With its location less than a mile from the Port of Ciwandan, Indonesia, and the ability to deliver sections to the port closest to a project site, the Korindo Wind Energy Division is able to develop competitive pricing for customers around the globe. Jakarta- based Korindo, founded in Jakarta in 1969, launched the division in 2006.
