CILEGON – In honor of the 77th anniversary of Indonesian Army Day, PT Kenertec Power System paired up with District Military Command 0623/Cilegon to run a blood donation event. It was received well.

“From our side, we have 50 people participating… 30 of them from the district military command, 10 from the local army wives association, and 10 from the departmental and sectoral police forces. Then from the general public, we have PT Kenertec employees,” said 1st Lt. Assistant I Wayan Balik Astawa, a member of the district’s territorial section and executing officer for Bakti TNI (the army’s community service program).

The blood drive took place in the company’s PR Training room at Kepuh Urban Village, Ciwandan Subdistrict, Cilegon, on Wednesday (14/12). PT Kenertec’s Head of Safety and Payment Ade Hendra described the event as a recurring company activity that ran biannually, but was somehow “different” this time, as its date overlapped with the birthday of Indonesian National Army. For this reason, the company reached out to the local military district for collaboration.

“If all goes well, we can continue to synergize efforts and not only for blood donations. I also hope today’s activity can help those in need,” Hendra said.

For everyone’s information, the Indonesian Army Day (or Hari Juang TNI Angkatan Darat) is a commemoration of the Battle of Ambarawa, where the newly-formed Indonesian Army, led by General Soedirman, beat Allied troops back to Semarang on 12-15 December 1945. Its previous name was Infantry Day.

This year, its celebration was held simultaneously in all military districts on 14 December. (PR)
