CILEGON – PT Kenertec Power System (KPS) shipped 112 sections of wind turbine towers to Paldiski, Estonia, via the Port of Ciwandan, Banten, on Tuesday (3/16). The shipment, weighing over 9,000 tons, comprises 16 complete wind towers.
“Today’s shipment to our European client marks the third delivery of a total of 266 sets destined for Estonia. This specific shipment includes 16 wind tower units, consisting of 112 sections and weighing 9,107 tons,” stated Dede Hermansyah, Production Manager of PT KPS.
The wind towers are being transported by sea on a transcontinental journey. “The Port of Ciwandan was chosen as the departure point due to its proximity to our facility and its more direct access to the Indian Ocean compared to other ports like Tanjung Priok,” he continued.
PT Kenertec Power System stands as the sole manufacturer of wind towers in Indonesia. Since its inception in 2007, PT KPS has exported over 3,000 wind tower sections to dozens of countries across the Americas, Australia, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
“Including the 16 units currently en route to Estonia, we have now shipped a total of 3,825 wind towers to various countries,” Dede concluded.
Domestically, PT Kenertec Power System successfully contributed to the development of the Sidrap Wind Farm—a utility-scale wind power project—in 2017. Located in Sidenreng Rappang Regency, South Sulawesi, this facility is the first and largest of its kind in Indonesia. It supplies electricity to parts of the Sulawesi region and embodies Indonesia’s commitment to achieving a 23% share of New and Renewable Energy (NRE) in its primary energy mix by 2025.
In its operations, PT Kenertec Power System holds numerous international certifications, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, OHSMS (SMK3) Certificate, DIN 18800-7 Class E, and DIN EN ISO 3834-2, among others. Furthermore, the company has achieved a Local Content Level (TKDN) of 40% in its wind tower production.
Operating from its facility in Ciwandan, Cilegon City, Banten, PT Kenertec Power System is a part of the Korindo Group’s Energy division, with an annual production capacity of 500 towers. To date, the company has manufactured and shipped over 3,000 wind towers to countries across the globe. (*)
